Project Scope
Detailed Description of Capital Improvement Project - (use additional pages it necessary)
Our livestock department during the Fair has been struggling with having enough electrical to run fans in
their barns to keep the animals cool as well as having enough power to groom their animals for showing. The
electrical outlets have been tampered with overtime and need to be replaced. The last few years, temporary
solutions have been constructed to try to run power into more areas and families have been donating
generators to use where there is no power at all. The current state of the electrical in the barns has exposed
our youth exhibitors and their families to safety hazards for safely using their equipment and caring for their
animals, along with having a safe place to house their animals. Therefore, we want to conduct updates and
repairs to the electrical system with the following project scope:
1. Add two 50-amp plugs in our main show building (Bloom Pavilion) in the southeast comer with four
spider boxes and four 50-amp cords.
2. Inspect all electrical boxes in the three historic barns to ensure all connections are in good condition.
3. Install new sub panel on the east side the Swine and Sheep Barn with 14 dedicated GFCI plugs.
4. Install new sub panel on the west side of the Draft Horse barn with 14 dedicated GFCI plugs.
5. Run new conduit to cover exposed wires.
Project Details
Amount Requested from WSDA
Total Project Amount
Type of Match
$ 50,000.00
$ 60,000.00
W1 Monetary ❑ In -Kind ❑ Both Monetary & In -Kind ❑ No Match
Description of Match
Kittitas County is requesting the Kittitas County Friends of the Fairgrounds Foundation to support this
project with matching funds up to $10,000.
If your match is monetary, what is the source(s) of the matching funds? Donation from the Foundation.
Payment is on a reimbursement basis.
Do you have funds to cover parts of the project prior to reimbursement? ® Yes [—]No
Explain if needed:
Has the owner of the facility reviewed and approved this grant application? ® Yes [—]No
How does the project meet the health or safety requirement of the capital funding?
Currently, exhibitors rely on limited, tampered outlets, temporary wiring solutions, and even personal generators to
provide power for animal care and grooming equipment, These unsafe conditions jeopardize the wellbeing of youth
exhibitors, their families, and the animals housed in the barns. The project improvements will eliminate unsafe temporary
workarounds, reduce overheating risks for livestock, and provide a safer environment.
What is the impact if you were to receive a grant award less than requested?
Can the project be completed by May 31, 2027?
It will delay the project until another source of funding can be identified.
V Yes ❑ No
Applicant Certification
1 hereby certify under penalty of perjury that the foregoing information is true and correct to the best of my knowledge.
Digiluliy signed by Kady Porterfield
Kady Porterfield Dasc: 2025.09.26 14S9:21 -07'OD' 09/26/2025
Signature of Officer Completing Application Date Signed
AGR-5543 (li/7/25) Information collected by WSDA becomes a public record and may be disclosed unless exempted by federal or state law.
