RAILROAD STREET REVITALIZATION
EG 4.0 aims to transform Railroad Street into a revitalized commercial center that reflects Easton's history
and future aspirations. Its policies direct planning work, property -owner collaboration, targeted incentives,
and supportive zoning to encourage small businesses, cottage industries, and recreation -related services.
BALANCED ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
EG 4.1 promotes a balanced economic strategy that supports local residents while responding to
recreational tourism pressures. Policies emphasize coordination with state and federal agencies, exploring a
day -use park or recreation hub, and discouraging commercial uses that could worsen traffic challenges,
especially during 1-90 closures.
TRANSPORTATION, UTILITIES & FACILITIES
EG 5.0 seeks to strengthen Easton's essential infrastructure to improve safety, mobility, and resilience.
Through policies that expand trail networks, clarify maintenance responsibilities, coordinate with WSDOT on
1-90 crossings, and pursue funding for needed facilities, such as restrooms, community spaces, and postal
services.
COMMUNITY RESILIENCE
EG 6.0 focuses on protecting Easton from local hazards, including wildfire, flooding, transportation risks, and
hazardous materials by strengthening emergency preparedness and response capacity. Policies promote
creating a Firewise plan, improving evacuation routes and signage, establishing a satellite emergency services
location, and addressing sound, safety, and environmental concerns tied to 1-90 and rail operations.
