• Revised housing goals and policies to incorporate expanded statewide requirements related to <br />affordable housing. <br />• Added new policies supporting increased housing production, diverse housing types, and equitable <br />access to housing. <br />• Created a new Climate Resiliency Sub -Element, as now required by state law. With new goals and <br />policies to address climate -exacerbated hazards. These are supported by the County Hazard <br />Mitigation Plan. <br />3. Updates reflecting public participation results and direction from the BOCC and planning <br />commission <br />• Integrated key themes from public engagement, including housing affordability, transportation needs, <br />rural character preservation, agriculture, and environmental protection. <br />• Adjusted goals and policies to reflect values expressed by residents, stakeholder groups, and <br />community -based organizations. <br />• Incorporated guidance and feedback from the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) and Planning <br />Commission throughout drafting. <br />4. Updates to improve implementation of the plan <br />• Integrated policy direction with other County department plans (transportation, parks, utilities, <br />hazard mitigation, etc.) to ensure consistent priorities across agencies. <br />• Added a new Implementation Chapter outlining priority actions for the next 10 years. <br />• Identified responsible departments, partners, potential funding sources, and coordination needs for <br />each action item. <br />The Implementation Chapter focuses on the following goals and policies identified as most important to help <br />improve conditions for the next 10 years. <br />LU-G2 — Identify areas adjacent to existing cities and unincorporated UGAs that are most conducive <br />to future urban growth and incentivize development patterns that support future UGA inclusion. <br />LU-G4 — Mitigate impacts of state and federal land purchases that reduce opportunities for housing, <br />jobs, economic development, and county revenue. <br />H-G1 — Support strategies that increase and maintain affordable housing for all income levels <br />throughout the county. <br />H-G3 — Develop a permit -ready Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) program in coordination with the <br />cities to expand affordable housing options countywide. <br />E-G3 — Promote economic development and job growth through coordination with KC Economic <br />Development, cities, and Central Washington University. <br />E-G2 — Explore opportunities to grow outdoor recreation -based economic activity through <br />partnerships, planning, and stakeholder engagement. <br />U-G7 — Plan for, coordinate, and allow expansion of solar, wind, and battery storage energy <br />production to improve county resiliency while ensuring proper siting and mitigation. <br />
