BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />COUNTY OF KITTITAS <br />STATE OF WASHINGTON <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />TO ADOPT POLICIES TO BENEFIT KITTITAS COUNTY'S NATURAL <br />RESOURCES AND REDUCE THE EMISSION OF GREENHOUSE GASSES <br />WHEREAS: On June 13, 2011, the State of Washington Department of <br />Commerce awarded Kittitas County $617,046 in federal Community <br />Development Block Grant (CDBG) program funds for improvements <br />to the Vantage wastewater treatment facility in Water District <br />Number 6; and <br />WHEREAS: The State of Washington Department of Commerce requires that <br />the County adopt Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Policy prior <br />to approval of the contract for the CDBG grant; and <br />WHEREAS: Kittitas County has determined that its Comprehensive Plan <br />includes policies that benefit the County's natural resources and <br />reduce air pollutants, energy consumption, and traffic congestion; <br />and <br />WHEREAS: Exhibit A lists those policies, previously adopted in the County's <br />Comprehensive Plan, that benefit Kittitas County's natural <br />resources and reduce air pollutants, energy consumption, and <br />traffic congestion; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: The Board of County Commissioners, <br />after due consideration, declares it be in the best interest of the public to adopt <br />Exhibit A as Kittitas County's policies for the reduction of greenhouse gas <br />emissions. <br />DATED this day of , 2011, at Ellensburg, Washington. <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />Paul Jewell, Chair <br />ATTEST: Alan Crankovich, Vice -Chair <br />Clerk of the Board Obie O'Brien, Commissioner <br />
