KITTITAS COUNTY
BOARD OF COUNTY C OMNIIS S IONERS
STAFF REPORT FOR
STUDY SESSION
Auditor
STUDY SESSION DATE: 02-19-2026
TOPIC: Approval of Signature on agreement with Certified Public Account for
assistance with year-end preparations.
ACTION REQUESTED: Approval of Signature
LEAD STAFF: Zack DeHaven
RECOMMENDATION: Authorize the signature update and continuation of the County's
Professional Service Agreement with Tara Dunford to provide assistance with year-end
financial statement preparation.
BRIEFING SUMMARY: Tara Dunford has supported the County in building internal
capacity and technical knowledge, contributing to the continued timely submission of
financial statements. A professional service agreement was first implemented in 2022 and
has remained in effect through annual engagement letter updates that extend and continue
the agreement.
BACKGROUND: Ms. Dunford has played a key role in improving the County's
performance related to timely financial statement submission. The flexible nature of the
engagement allows County staff to expand knowledge and capacity with each annual
submission without the need to increase staffing levels. Continuing this engagement is
critical to sustaining progress made in accurate, timely, and audit finding —free financial
statement submissions.
FISCAL IMPACTS: The terms of the engagement letter are from January 1, 2026
through December 31, 2026 with a not to exceed amount of $14,350.
ATTACHMENTS:
a Tara Dunford — 2026 engagement letter
Legal consultation?
