Dept. of Public Works <br />Page 2 <br />A property exchange between Central Washington University (CWU), City of Ellensburg and County has <br />been supported. This property exchange will see CWU take ownership of the main hangar and make <br />investments in the building as well as the flight program. County will take ownership of the previous <br />Centerfuse building. This will be the first commercial space owned by the County, which will add to the <br />ownership portfolio of the airport. As the building is occupied, funding will be reinvested in the airport. <br />Accomplishments Achieved: <br />• Improved maintenance of airside and landside property <br />o Expanded schedule of mowing and weed abatement. <br />o Continued partnership with Central Washington University flight school for Foreign <br />Object Debris Program (FOD) walk of the runway. Improving FOD awareness and <br />mitigation. <br />o Timely snow removal and Notice to Air Missions (NOTAMs) filing. <br />o Coordinated control burn including an area adjacent to Runway 11/29 and of piles, <br />improving safety. <br />Airport Projects <br />o Wetland mitigation project construction complete. Currently monitoring to ensure plant <br />survivability. <br />o Previous wildlife assessment analysis was completed, and draft Wildlife Hazard <br />Evaluation and Management Plan adopted. <br />o Electrical extension to lots for future hangar development. <br />o Coordination with the FAA and airport staff for the parallel taxiway. <br />o Begin development of a hangar taxilane extension, which will provide for the availability <br />of future lots. <br />• Private Development <br />o One private development lease in the business park, with construction ongoing. <br />o Agreement with City of Ellensburg, County and Central Washington University for a <br />property exchange. <br />• Leases <br />o Lease renewals are being updated. <br />• Consultants <br />o Ongoing efforts being made to obtain the necessary environmental permits to complete <br />future planned construction including the parallel taxiway and runway narrowing. <br />Projects continue to be worked on to promote and develop the airfield.
