Members are required to comply with the Kittitas County Committees, Committees, <br />and Commissions Handbook <br /> <br />A quorum shall consist of five people, regardless of current committee <br />membership and will determine whether the committee may conduct any <br />regular or special meeting. If a quorum is available, a voting requirement of <br />those members in attendance will provide a simple majority to transact <br />business. <br />Conflicts of interest <br />The committee members shall comply with the Code of Ethics for Municipal <br />Officers, Chapter 42.23 RCW, in the performance of their duties. No employee, <br />volunteers including appointees to a committee, committee or commission and <br />interns should have or appear to have personal interest or relationships that <br />actually or potentially conflict with the best interests of the county. <br />Conflict of interests includes the following definitions: <br />A. Conflict of Interest: A situation in which an individual’s personal interests <br />could compromise their judgement, decisions, or actions in the workplace. <br />B. Apparent Conflict of Interest: A situation in which a reasonable person would <br />perceive that a decision -maker’s judgement is likely to be compromised. <br />C. Family Member: For the purposes of this policy, a family member is defined <br />as an employee’s spouse, domestic partner, children, parents, siblings, in - <br />laws, and step-relatives. A person living with an employee or who shares a <br />significant financial or personal connection with the employee may also be <br />considered a family member for conflict-of-interest purposes. <br />D. Personal Gain: A benefit, advantage, or increase in value that an individual <br />receives. It can be in the form of financial, legal, social, or other intangible <br />advantages. <br />E. Vendor: A supplier of goods and/or services that does business or intends to <br />do business with Kittitas County. <br />No committee or committee member shall have a contract with the county to <br />provide services or training and shall not be a committee member, officer, or <br />employee of an agency subcontracting with the county to provide such <br />services. <br />County employees are responsible for the enforcement and compliance with <br />conflicts of interest. Actual or perceived conflicts will be reported to the Committee <br />Chair and the Human Resources Department. If an investigation results in a finding <br />and there is a violation of conflict of interest, the County will take prompt corrective <br />action to ensure that such conduct ceases. Violations of conflict of interest may <br />result in disciplinary action up to and including removal from the assigned
