KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: January 20, 2026 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution initiating County Road <br />Project designated as CRP NO: 323-26, Corridor <br />Improvements Countywide <br />BACKGROUND: Kittitas County has been selected to receive $1,290,000 from <br />the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) for the <br />Corridor Improvements Countywide Project. Eight road <br />segments have been identified as high risk by the 2025 <br />Safety Plan as well as past safety plans. To better prevent <br />future fatal and serious injury accidents, Kittitas County <br />plans to design and install improvements including <br />embedded LED markers, guideposts and edge line rumble <br />strips on portions of the identified roadways. <br />HSIP funding is administered through the Washington State <br />Department of Transportation (WSDOT). The award does <br />not require matching local funds if all phases are authorized <br />prior to April 30, 2028. <br />To meet the requirements of the program the project needs <br />to be initiated as a county road project and needs to be added <br />to the WSDOT Statewide Transportation Improvement <br />Program. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve a Resolution initiating County Road Project <br />designated as CRP NO. 323-26, Corridor Improvements <br />Countywide. <br />HANDLING: Return one (1) original to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution <br />LEAD STAFF: Josh Fredrickson, Public Works Director <br />
