l. The county medical examiner/coroner will assume jurisdiction over the human skeletal <br />remains and decide whether those remains are forensic (crime-related) or non-forensic. <br />a. If forensic, the county medical examiner/coroner will retain jurisdiction over the <br />remains. <br />b. If non-forensic, the county medical examiner/coroner will report that finding to the <br />DAHP who will then take jurisdiction over the remains. The DAHP will notif any <br />appropriate cemeteries and all affected Tribes of the remains. The State Physical <br />Anthropologist will decide whetherthe remains are Indian orNon-Indian and report <br />that finding to any appropriate cemeteries and the affected Tribes. The DAHP will <br />then handle all consultation with the affected parties as to the future preservation, <br />excavation, and disposition of the remains. <br />Note: The WSPRC archaeologist assigned to the undertaking will be coordinating <br />and consulting with the DAHP, affected Tribes, and other groups as necessary. <br />Additionally, WSPRC's Curator of CollectionsA{AGPRA Specialist should be <br />included on all written and/or verbal correspondence until the remains have been <br />offrcially transferred from WSPRC's possession to an outside authority. Until the <br />remains are transferred off of WSPRC's property, it is the responsibility of the <br />Curator of CollectionsArlAGPRA Specialist to document and track the information <br />regarding all human remains and associated funerary objects (including all material <br />from excavation areas/units from which the human remains were removed). <br />2.
