COUNTY BROADBAND FUND 305 <br /> 2026 County Broadband Budget— Fund 305 <br /> Program Description: <br /> Public Works administers Fund 305 (County Broadband) on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners. Broadband development utilizes grant funding to expand the <br /> availability of broadband (high-speed internet) service to residents within the County.Two grant awards have currently been received with additional funding having been <br /> applied for. Project funding to expand broadband service in the County is available through the Public Works Board (PWB), and Washington State Broadband Office (WSBO). <br /> Construction, maintenance, and broadband service are through private providers. <br /> Revenue Sources: <br /> Grants from the State Public Works Board, Washington State Broadband Office and Federal sources; General fund transfers. <br /> Staff Summary: <br /> Public Works provides staff to administer Fund 305. <br /> 2026 Work Plan Revenue Local Match Expense <br /> Functions: <br /> Project 1 (PWB) $1.78 MM $265 K $2.05 MM <br /> Administrative: Project 2 (WSBO) $11.37 MM $1.32 MM $12.69 MM <br /> • Prepare and administer department budget including capital improvements <br /> • Liaison with Federal and State agencies to implement projects Project 3 (BEAD) $3.29 MM $3.29 MM <br /> • Manage contracts and grant management <br /> • Manage consultant and contractor contracts for capital improvements Consultant $50K $50K <br /> Total $16.44 MM $1.64 MM $18.08 MM <br /> Notes for 2026: <br /> Construction activities for the first awarded funds are anticipated in 2025, followed by construction of the second awarded funds in 2026.
