County Commissioners September 15, 2025
Kittitas County Courthouse
205 West 5th Avenue
Ellensburg,WA 98926
Dear Commissioners Laura Osiadacz, Brett Wachsmith and Cory Wright,
Thank you once again for the opportunity to share our 2025 Kittitas County Regional Library Board(KCRLB)
Annual Report and 2026 Budget Requests. In the following packet, each city library has provided a brief
report of their past year activities and 2026 funding request.
Established by the Commissioners in 1996,the Regional Library Board continues to thrive collaboratively as
we work together to further our services and maximize our resources to our county residents. Our city
libraries continue to offer reciprocal borrowing privileges and a shared Integrated Library System (ILS),the
online catalog. Not only can county residents obtain a free card from the other city libraries, but patrons can
also research items housed in each building virtually. Our reciprocal agreement has proven to be most
beneficial and important. Our collaborative nature is crucial as we can help each other and everyone in the
county.
The 2025 Summer Reading Program proved to be the biggest and best one yet.All libraries had a record i
number of public participation. Our 2025 One Book One County author featured Natalie Hammerquist and
her book Medicinal Plants of the Pacific Northwest. It was a popular program as she is a local community
member from Roslyn. Our 2026 featured author still to be determined. I
a
The county's financial support is crucial to continuing quality library services to residents of Kittitas County.
We are again requesting$1500 in support of the Summer Reading Program Regional Project. These funds will
be distributed equally to the 3 smaller libraries to supplement their budgets for summer reading incentives
and supplies. This program encourages all kids in Kittitas County to continue reading through the summer
months. We are also requesting$1000 to continue support for the One Book One County program. These
funds will go directly towards possible author visits and/or programming efforts.
The following table is a summary of each city's request for county funding support.
Library Request 2025 Funded f 2026 Request
Cie Elum 39,000 50,000
Ellensburg 123,000 . 130,000
Kittitas 9500 10,000
Roslyn 26,000 32,000
Summer Reading(Cle Elum, Kittitas, Roslyn) 1500 1500
One Book One County program (OBOC) 1000 1000
Totals l 200,000 224,500
Our libraries rely on County government to contribute to this vital funding that provides quality library
services our county residents deserve and expect. The Kittitas County Regional Library Board appreciates the
commissioners' recognition of the necessity for continued library support.
Sincerely,
Josephine Camarillo, Ellensburg Public Library
On behalf of the Kittitas County Regional Library Board
