<br /> <br /> <br />Department Business <br />Naloxone Kiosk Program Overview <br />Kate Johnson, Communicable Diseases Supervisor, gave the board a overview of the Naloxone Kiosk <br />project. She gave details on the kiosks that have been funded and what will be available, such as <br />emergency information packets and resources. She shared a list of potential kiosk locations, noting that <br />they prioritized areas with less access to current Naloxone distribution locations. Dr. Mark Larson <br />discussed how Naloxone can be lifesaving for people, including those taking doctor prescribed opioids. <br />The board offered feedback on potential locations, specific concerns, and suggested reaching out to <br />each municipality prior to placing kiosks. Stephanie Hartung asked about the availability of Naloxone <br />training and whether they could be provided to other county departments. Overall, Kate Johnson <br />discussed the importance of education and stigma reduction. Public health will begin reaching out to <br />municipalities and other potential partners. <br /> <br />Cold Weather Shelter Funding Discussion/Direction <br />Chelsey Loeffers gave the board an update on Cold Weather Shelter funding. She shared that they were <br />able to secure $250,000 through the department of commerce to put towards a 2-year operator <br />contract. She requested approval to move forward with an RFP process to select an operator to contract <br />with. <br />Motion 08.02. Cory Wright moved to approve the use of an RFP process to select a Cold Weather <br />Shelter operator to contract with. Brett Wachsmith Second. All approved. Motion 08.02 carried. <br />Health Officer Update <br />Dr. Mark Larson gave the board an update on the health of Kittitas County. He shared that they were <br />testing animals at the fair for avian influenza. He also discussed Substance Use Disorder in our county <br />and how he expects to see Methadone therapy discussed more in the future. Dr. Larson also spoke on <br />current Covid cases, vaccinations, and the upcoming flu season.
