KITTITAS COUNTY
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
STAFF REPORT
Maintenance
SPECIAL MEETING DATE: August 12, 2025
TOPIC: Staff
ACTION REQUESTED: Boards direction regarding a hiring a Project Manager for the
Maintenance Department.
LEAD STAFF: Patti Stacey, Director
RECOMMENDATION: Recommend Boards approval to work with the Human
Recourse Department to hire a Project Manager for the Facility/Maintenance Department.
With the increase in workload for projects it is becoming clear that additional staff will
be needed to handle the work.
Event Center Arena: $12,000,000
RV Park Event Center $ 250,000 plus until completed
Search and Rescue: $ 2,700,000
Jail Projects $ 5,500,000
Continues search and courthouse relocation: $ unknown
This list does not include all the small works projects that need to be handled by the
Facilities Maintenance department.
I recommend that we proceed with filling this position before the end of the year so that
the projects going out to bid this fall have continuity of tracking.
BRIEFING SUMMARY: I have talked with the Human Resource Department and
would like to continue to work with them to develop a posting for this position.
BACKGROUND: Previously all of the contract management has been done by the
Facilities and Waste Operation Director, with assistance for the Project Manager in the
Solid Waste Department and assistance from the Assistant Maintenance Director. We no
longer have a Project Manager in the Solid Waste Department that can assist with the
other projects.
DISCUSSION: Recommend Boards approval to continue working with Human
Resources Department for Project Manager Position.
FISCAL IMPACTS: $72,560 — $88,416 plus benefits.
