DISCUSSION:
As part of the study, the feasibility of a public/private partnership to share costs of
construction and improvements will be explored. The feasibility study will also exam
ownership models of this space that allow public and private investment. This planning
grant will assist in the groundwork for a technological transfer, training and development
hub to support economic and workforce development in the Central Washington Region.
This project will help to harness the intellectual power of Central Washington University
to create relationships with business and industry. The proximity of the facility to campus
will help provide a place to match innovative work in research and development with
investors in an off -campus environment.
The work being done as part of this feasibility study has also identified the opportunities
connected with industrial zoned lands at Bowers Field. The technology transfer and
business growth to Bowers Field is a natural location due to its proximity to CWU and
Ellensburg.
FISCAL IMPACTS:
Project costs are accounted for through awarded funds and fund balance.
ATTACHMENTS:
None
Public Works "Work Session Staff Report", 2025
