Kittitas County NFIP Policies <br />4.6.5.5. Past Events <br />The National Centers for Environmental lnformation (NCEI) has reported 21 flood events between 1997 <br />and 2023 in Kittitas County. Notably on January 7,2009, heavy rainfall on deep snowpack caused <br />excessive runoff and moderate flooding on the Yakima River with damage reported in the cities of Cle <br />Elum, Roslyn, and the west portion of Ellensburg. This resulted in flooded roads that buckled in some <br />areas and property damage totaling $10 Million. Additionally, on May 16, 2Q11, an upper level low <br />pressure system over the Pacific Northwest produced heavy rainfall and combined with a significant <br />amount of spring snowpack significant flooding occurred.
