2025 Hazard Mitigation Plan
Kittitas Gounty, Washington ffi{#l
Underserved and At Risk Population: The underserved and at risk population are exposed to higher
vulnerabilities and impacts during dam and levee failure events. During a dam and levee failure event,
the underserved and at risk population includes those that are potentially unable to evacuate on their
own such as the elderly, children, individuals with disabilities, and low-income families who may not have
the appropriate resources to evacuate. Additionally, individuals with limited English proficiency may not
have access to information in the appropriate language and limited internet access may prohibit to obtain
the emergency information in a timely manner.
Effects of Glimate Change in Severity of lmpacts: Although climate change does not have a direct
impact on dam and levee failures, flood frequency and magnitude are expected to increase as a result of
climate change. Subsequently increasing the probability of dam and levee failures. Refer to the Flood
section of this Ptan.
