Education and Outreach Capabilities <br />Table 3-21 lists the County's education and public outreach capabilities. These capabilities include fire <br />safety programs, hazard awareness campaigns, public information, and communications offices. <br />Education and outreach capabilities can be used to inform the public about current and potential <br />mitigation activities. <br />Table 3-21. Education and Public Outreach Capabilities <br />County Emergency/Disaster Readiness Website <br />https://www.co.kittitas.wa.us/sheriff/emergency.aspx <br />The County Sheriff’s website has educational material on numerous programs, including making an emergency <br />plan, stocking supplies, staying informed, and getting involved in community preparedness programs. <br />Kittitas County Emergency Response Information <br />https://www.co.kittitas.wa.us/response/default.aspx <br />Provides resources and links for public safety and emergency information in Kittitas County. <br />County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) <br />The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program is a 20-hour all risk, all hazard training offered <br />by the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office through Kittitas County Search and Rescue . This valuable course is <br />designed to help you protect yourself, your family, your neighbors, and your neighborhood in an emergency. <br />Ellensburg Community Television (ECTV) <br />The Ellensburg Community Television (ECTV) is the flagship channel of Kittitas County’s cable television <br />programming, bringing special events, government meetings, and produced shows. ECTV broadcasts on <br />channel 191 or online via ectv2.com. <br />Kittitas County Emergency Management Alerts <br />The Kittitas County Emergency Management Alerts can alert residents with critical information quickly in a <br />variety of situations, such as severe weather, wildfires, unexpected road closures, missing persons and <br />evacuations of buildings or neighborhoods. Residents will receive time-sensitive messages wherever they <br />specify, such as your home, mobile or business phones, email address, text messages and more. <br />3.9.5. Recommended Expanded or Improved Capabilities <br />Kittitas County identified existing authorities, policies, programs, funding, and/or resources that could be <br />expanded and/or improved to support the implementation of the hazard mitigation initiatives identified in <br />this Plan (e.g., mitigation actions). <br /> <br />• Several Kittitas County staff are proficient utilizing GIS, but an expansion of GIS capabilities for <br />spatial data creation, dataset management, and spatial data analysis would help advance hazard <br />mitigation initiatives. Efforts to expand capabilities should be informed by an understanding of the <br />current roles and responsibilities within and across County departments, and of state and federally <br />managed datasets. <br />
