The United States Census Bureau estimates that 1.2% of <br />the County’s residents speak English “less than very well.”37F <br />38 <br /> <br />Disabled Population: Approximately, 22.4% of Kittitas County population has a disability type (i.e., <br />hearing, vision, cognitive, or ambulatory, self-care, and independent living difficulty). People with <br />disabilities are more likely to require assistance when responding to a hazard event and more likely to <br />require assistance during the 72 hours after a hazard event, which is the period generally reserved for <br />self-help. Furthermore, individuals with disabilities are likely to be compounded with other vulnerabilities, <br />(e.g., age, economic disadvantage, race, and ethnicity). Table 3-9 summarizes the estimates for the <br />disabled population by disability type, age, race, and ethnicity within Kittitas County.38F <br />39 <br />Table 3-9.
