2025 Hazard Mitigation Plan
Kittitas County, Washington

Chapter 3: Community Profile 30
Figure 3-6. Kittitas County Population and Projected Growth (1980 – 2050)

Table 3-4 shows the projected rates of average annual population growth according to the OFM
projections.28F
29
Table 3-4. Kittitas County Projected Population (2020 – 2050)
Projection
Series 2020 2025 2030 2035 2040 2045 2050
Low 46,468 45,295 46,779 48,172 49,484 50,723 51,907
Medium 46,468 49,234 52,091 54,850 57,521 60,112 62,643
High 46,468 53,173 57,143 61,008 64,778 68,461 72,079

The medium projection is OFM’s actual estimate, and it is assumed that it is the most accurate while the
high and low projections are provided as a margin of safety. However, Kittitas County has a reason to
believe that these projections are not a good representation of the local conditions. As a result, Kittitas
decided to use 2% as the projection for the growth rate which falls between the medium and high OFM
projections. Through County Resolution 2017-068, Kittitas County adopted the countywide growth and
allocation, listed in Table 3-5, using OFM projections.29F
30

29 Washington State Office of Financial Management.
