Hazus also estimates the number of displaced
individuals that will require accommodations in temporary public shelters. The model estimates 1,195
households (3,584 people) will be displaced due to the flood. Displacement includes households
evacuated from within or very near to the inundated area. Of these, 178 people (out of a total population
of 44,271) will seek temporary shelter in public shelters.
4.6.5.7. FEMA NRI Expected Annual Loss Estimates
A riverine flooding NRI EAL score, and rating represent a community's relative level of expected building,
population, and agriculture loss each year due to riverine flooding when compared to the rest of the
United States. The EAL score is positively associated to a community’s risk; therefore, a higher EAL
score results in a higher Risk Index score. Table 4-83 outlines the riverine flooding EAL for Kittitas
County.
Table 4-83. Flooding Risk Index Scores
The FEMA riverine flooding Risk Index score and rating represent a community's relative risk for riverine
flooding when compared to the rest of the United States. Table 4-84 illustrates the riverine flooding Risk
Index rating and score for Kittitas County.
