be handled and navigated by the Clinical Staff overseeing the mental health portion of
services provided by CompassDirect Healthcare.
All complex behavioral/mental health care will be referred to the existing mental health
nurse practitioner to ensure complete and proper continuation of care for the patient.
Furthermore, any changes to medications, questions about care, or discussions needed
to be had about the care for a certain patient will be communicated through
CompassDirect Healthcare and either the clients primary care giver when not
incarcerated or the existing mental health nurse practitioner. There may also be
collaboration between CompassDirect Healthcare and KCJ mental health staff required
during this contract.
Research and Evaluation
CompassDirect Healthcare will evaluate the success of the KCJ behavioral/mental
health practitioner and Clinical Staff successes by tracking data associated with these
services. This will include the number of inmates seen, the total number of inmates
treated, and perhaps most importantly, the recidivism rate for inmates who were treated
with behavioral/mental health medications while in custody at KCJ. KCJ will gather and
analyze this data with quarterly and annual reporting available, unless otherwise
requested by KCJ. Any additional specific metrics KCJ desires to be tracked may be
requested as well.
KCJ is the owner of the research data, to the extent consistent with and allowed by the
grant funding and may make use of the de -identified data for the education of the public
and other entities.
At least quarterly a representative from CompassDirect Healthcare will be invited to
participate in a meeting and share any pertinent information regarding successes or
barriers of the programming, how the parties can improve on processes or
communication, and present information as requested. CompassDirect Healthcare may
also be requested to update KCJ administrators or staff more frequently if so desired
when both parties have available time.
Professional Services Agreement (rev. 09/24/2018)
