Temporary Project Specialist Position Proposal CURRENT STATUS Currently, no dedicated position exists for addressing the specialized maintenance and improvement needs of our facilities. Previous efforts to fill a full-time carpenter -type maintenance role were unsuccessful, primarily due to challenges in identifying a candidate with the right skill set and the fact that the workload does not justify a full-time position. CANDIDATE CONSIDERATIONS Our facility encompasses aging structures and infrastructure that require both traditional and specialized maintenance skills. The ideal candidate would bring a combination of experience, craftsmanship, and a willingness to work collaboratively to ensure the sustainable preservation and functionality of our grounds. PROPOSAL We propose hiring a Temporary Project Specialist to support key facility maintenance and improvement efforts. • The candidate would be brought on temporarily, not exceeding 30 working days per fiscal year, to maintain temporary employment status. ■ Start date would be coordinated for optimal project timing and efficiency. ■ This flexible, project -based approach allows us to strategically address critical needs without the cost or commitment of a full-time role. TOTAL PAY (160-240 hrs) Project Specialist $64.00/hour 10,240 - $15,360 In comparison, outsourcing the same work to a private contractor at $120—$160/hour would result in dramatically higher labor costs, consuming up to two-thirds of most project budgets. Strategic Staffing Support This role will provide valuable hands-on support to the KVEC Director and Fair Board, helping to: • Address recurring preventative maintenance challenges. • Assist with planning for future repair and facility needs. • Support implementation of the Capital Improvement Plan, if approved. FUTURE We recommend that this position be considered as a recurring annual option, authorized at the discretion of the Event Center Director and contingent upon budget availability. This will provide ongoing flexibility to respond to infrastructure needs in a cost-effective, proactive manner.
