Response 1.1: Please provide a description of your project/event.*
Response 1.2: Please provide us link to a brief video summary of you organization's event/project.*
Thank you for the opportunity to support the annual marketing campaign for the Washington State Ski & Snowboard Museum
(WSSSM) (http://www.wsssm.org). In 2025 the museum will be celebrating our 10th anniversary and we have plans for lots of
activities around this celebration!
We are located on Snoqualmie Pass, just over the King-Kittitas county line, WSSSM is truly the first tourism destination in Upper
Kittitas County. The museum is in the modern and growing Pass Life development next to the Summit ski area, ideally situated
in between two popular venues: Commonwealth restaurant and Dru Bru brewery. WSSSM is open year-round, Friday-Sunday.
Admission is FREE.
The museum is staffed by two paid staff, our Executive Director and Operations and Volunteer Coordinator. We rely on a
volunteers to help staff the museum. WSSSM is also a community space and meeting spot for Snoqualmie Pass residents. We
work to provide quality events that appeal to our demographic of skiers, but also to the local community. Our volunteer hosts
interact with every visitor and provide local information for the surrounding area.
In 2023, the museum saw a 47% increase in museum visits over the prior year and expects to end the year with an all-time high
of around 6,559 visitors. QR code surveys tell us that 97% of visitors travel more than 50 miles and 13% come from outside
Washington State. About 12% of visitors report an overnight stay.
2023 was one of our best fundraising years ever. WSSSM has developed broad and consistent support from over 450 individual
and corporate donors across the state, including The Summit, Northwest Winter Sports Foundation, Ski Washington, K2, Mervin,
and more. Community partnerships include Dru Bru, The Summit, Sturtevant’s, Outdoors for All, VertFest, PacWest Banked
Slalom, Warren Miller, REI, Edgeworks, Suncadia and more.
WSSSM is a storytelling, digital hands-on museum with 11 permanent exhibits and many videos. In 2024, the museum added
the mannequin “Radical Rick” to our Snowboarding Exhibit. Rick is dressed and ready for snowboarding 1980s style. Our most
popular exhibit is on our State’s Olympians. We are pleased to have our Olympians stay connected with the museum. With the
10th anniversary coming up in 2025, the museum exhibits committee is reinvigorated to decide on our next major project.
If awarded funds, WSSSM will invest in primarily targeted digital/on-line/streaming, social media, search advertising and print
advertising.
2500 character limit
Note: You MUST be present at the Q&A meeting to qualify for funding.
https://youtu.be/qL5vdLAWFEs
Response 1.3: List of Intended Use of Funds *
Note: This language will be related in the contract if awarded.
The CLTAC cannot approve funds not listed under RCW 67.28.1816. However, the committee has the right to be more restrictive.
Digital on-line advertising, streaming video or audio
Social media advertising
Search advertising
Print advertising including magazines, flyers, postcards, brochures, rack cards
2| Supporting Kittitas County as a tourism destination.
1.
