3| Impact
Response 3: Describe how you will promote your event/activity/facility to attract tourists.*
4| Collaboration
Response 4.1: If your organization collaborates or has created partnerships with other organizations, groups, or other events,
how is this accomplished?*
The EDA will promote our events, programs, and initiatives to tourists through a combination of organic content development
and paid advertising. Events and programs are promoted through our website, email marketing, social media channels, and print
materials (brochures, rack cards, postcards, large format signage). Additional funding will allow us to produce higher quality print
materials with a larger opportunity for distribution with our MyEllensburg tourism partners.
With lodging tax funds, we would increase our digital reach through paid advertisements via social media and digital ad
placement (Google Ads). We would also be more involved with organizations like the Washington Festivals and Events
Association and The State of Washington Tourism Partnership Program. Additional funding will support these educational and
networking opportunities.
EDA photography, videography, and social media content is used to promote tourism through MyEllensburg, as well as through
paid advertising efforts stemming from the EDA (digital, print, social) to encourage attendance from visitors beyond 50 miles of
Ellensburg.
The EDA website and email campaigns are direct sources of content and inspiration for travelers, and encourages individuals to
explore the unique facets that our historic downtown has to offer. Lodging tax funds will allow us to pay for high-quality
photography and videography of our downtown core and special events/festivals. We will continue to grow our relationships with
local and regional media partners to increase coverage of our events and programs.
2500 character limit
Application Questions: Part 3
Through an MOU with the City of Ellensburg, the EDA is able to lead beautification programs in the downtown core. These
programs include downtown planter maintenance, the installation of seasonal snowflake lighting, the installation of the
Ellensburg holiday tree, and downtown cleanup days. The EDA Director also sits on the Kittitas County Economic Development
Task Force and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. Our staff is heavily involved in programming with the Ellensburg
Arts and Cultural Alliance, ensuring that we are collectively promoting and amplifying its unique programs.
The EDA also partners with the Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce (KCCC) to amplify commerce in the downtown core and
drive tourism to historic Downtown Ellensburg. This is accomplished through regular strategy meetings with the KCCC CEO and
Tourism Director.
We have many local partners who support our mission to “empower and preserve community by amplifying our economy and
creating a sense of place for all.” While this list is not exhaustive of our partners, we hold strong relationships with Central
Washington University, The Washington Trust for Historic Preservation, the Kittitas County Historical Museum, the Ellensburg
Rodeo, and the National Main Street organization. Many members of these organizations and businesses serve as board and
committee members within the organization. We communicate regularly with our partners through in-person meetings, e-news
updates, social media campaigns, and more.
The Ellensburg Downtown Association works diligently to build and maintain relationships with local and regional partners. All
photography and videography content created with these funds would be made available to our partners at MyEllensburg and
other tourism-related organizations.
2500 character limit
