8| Funding
Response 8.1: Does your organization have, or have you applied for funding from other sources?*
Response 7.9: What methodology will you use to calculate the upcoming numbers?*
Direct Count (preferred)
Indirect Count
Representative Survey
Informal Survey (preferred)
Structured Estimate
Other
Response 7.10: Please explain your methodology.*
Please explain.
Based on ticket data, overnight stays for the 2024 production of Anastasia were calculated based upon 25.5% of total event
attendees (531 individuals) traveling over 50 miles (response 2.2). In 2023, 17.7% of total attendees traveled over 50 miles. It is
reasonable to project 25%(?) of attendees in 2025 will also be from 50+ miles away.
It was more difficult to locate current data related to Kittitas County tourism versus Washington State in general. We used a
combination of older data from Dean Runyan reports and more current data from Washington Tourism websites to structure our
estimates.
Using spending and accommodation tables and 2019 data from the Dean Runyan Report which had county specific data:
For 2024 actuals:
Est., Attendance Paid Overnight (35% of 553) = 193
Est., Attendance Did Not Pay Overnight (65% of 553) = 359
Incl. Day attendees (28%, est. 155 ppl), stay in private homes (37%, est. 205 ppl)
Of those staying in hotels/motels, the average party size is 2.3 people, and they stay an average of 2.5 nights.
2024 Est., Paid Lodging Nights = 193 / 2.3 x 2.5 = 209.8
We calculated our 2025 projections based on these same percentages.
Revenue Impacts
From http://choosewashingtonstate.com/why-washington/our-key-sectors/tourism/
Choose Washington the WA State Department of Commerce website states that the average visitor spends $216 per visit (2022
data). Industry reports estimate that every dollar spent by a tourist creates $1.36 in additional economic impact.
From the Economic Impact of Tourism in WA - Kittitas County visitor spending in 2020 infographic
Kittitas Co had 836,375 visitors who spent $202.2 million in 2020 – which is approximately $241.75 per person. Visitors spent
money in the following areas: Accommodations (35.5%), Food & Beverage (22.9%), Recreation (includes arts) (13.9%), Retail
(15.7%), and Transportation (12.0%).
We utilize a ticketing platform reports tickets purchased by zip code, for any purchase online or onsite that is paid with a
credit/debit card. This accounts for approximately 85.5% of tickets sold. While we recognize that some local attendees will
purchase tickets on behalf of out-of-town family and friends, this report allows us to get a much more accurate idea of the
number of attendees coming from cities that are 50+ miles away. In addition, we use:
Post-event surveys emailed to ticket purchasers
Ticket information
Google and website Analytics and Tracking
Social Media Campaigns and Ads
2500 character limit
Application Questions: Part 5
Yes
No
