Response 3: Describe how you will promote your event/activity/facility to attract tourists.*
4| Collaboration
Response 4.1: If your organization collaborates or has created partnerships with other organizations, groups, or other events,
how is this accomplished?*
We are thrilled to be at the forefront of promoting our downtown area. With a growing number of stores remodeling and
reopening, attracting visitors to our downtown has become increasingly effective and popular. Through our collaborative
approach with both established and new partners, we plan to expand our marketing efforts, strengthen partnerships, and work
closely with lodging facilities to boost visitor numbers and increase overnight stays.
Our strategic outreach will continue to focus on audiences located 50 miles or more from Cle Elum, particularly through
partnerships with lodging businesses. Since 2021, we have seen changes in how major hotel chains and a local resort distribute
materials promoting Cle Elum’s events. We are actively working to reestablish and enhance these relationships. By encouraging
these entities to tag the Cle Elum Downtown Association on social media, we aim to leverage our digital platforms to extend their
reach to potential travelers. In the coming year, we will also introduce links to our business directory and tourism information on
their websites, providing their guests with additional resources and incentives to visit and stay in Cle Elum.
The Cle Elum Downtown Association is recognized for its collaborative spirit and support for business growth. By revitalizing our
network and co-marketing partnerships, we aim to distribute printed materials more effectively, enhancing our ability to capture
zip code information and identify target audiences for further marketing efforts.
Our continued collaboration in co-marketing and event planning has proven successful in expanding our reach while maintaining
budget efficiency. Strong partnerships have facilitated shared marketing opportunities and increased exposure without significant
additional costs. Our business community remains a crucial partner in promoting and supporting local events, with growing
involvement each year.
2500 character limit
Application Questions: Part 3
The Cle Elum Downtown Association employs the Main Street Four-Point Strategic Approach to enhance economic
development by collaborating with local businesses and the community. Our Main Street Committees—Promotions, Economic
Vitality, Design, and Outreach—include both business and community members, driving our strategic initiatives.
A primary goal of our association is to build and nurture partnerships. Our collaborations with local organizations, including the
Roslyn Downtown Association, Ellensburg Downtown Association, Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce, Northern Kittitas
County Historical Society, Suncadia Resort, NKC Tribune, UKC Rotary, and various downtown businesses, have strengthened
our network. These partnerships help us plan events aligned with peak weekends, attracting visitors to Cle Elum and boosting
our visibility as a destination for tourists visiting Roslyn, Suncadia Resort, and WA Horse Park. This synergy effectively directs
traffic to Cle Elum, where new and exciting opportunities await.
Our business community plays a crucial role as well. By fostering relationships with both existing and new businesses, we have
seen increased engagement in downtown planning and marketing. Notably, businesses are now more active on social media,
enhancing our collective reach through collaborative online efforts.
In 2022, we reorganized the planning of Pioneer Day by forming a dedicated community planning team with representation from
twelve organizations, businesses, and individuals. This team has since expanded to over twenty-six members in 2024, reflecting
a strong, collective effort to reestablish Pioneer Day as a premier Cle Elum event. The result has been a broader range of
venues for visitors and heightened community enthusiasm.
Additionally, our ongoing collaboration with the City of Cle Elum Historic Preservation Commission, Northern Kittitas County
Historical Society, and the Cascade Association of Museums & History focuses on promoting our town’s rich historical heritage,
attracting visitors with our compelling history.
2500 character limit
