Priority 3: Huntzinger Road Safety lmprovements
Phase z-MP 2.70 to MP 5,14
Huntzinger Road has several segments of roadway that scored high on the risk-based prioritization in 2021,
2023, and 2025, Although the accident data only reflects moderate hazards, the characteristics of the road
show several areas of curves; both vertical and horizontal, steep embankments, and no shoulder which are
the largest contributing factors to run-off the road accidents, Guardrail, signing and delineation
improvements to this corridor are coslprohibitive so the County has prioritized the phases in order of
mileposts. Milepost 5.14 to 10.74 was awarded HSIP fundingin2023 and is scheduled for construction in
2025. This final section of the corridor, MP 2.70 to MP 5.14, still requires countermeasures to finalize the
improvements of the entire corridor. The Huntzinger Road Safety lmprovements project is a priority for
Kittitas County because recreation opportunities, agricultural traffic and new residential traffic are rapidly
increasing along this roadway.
18
