VISION, MISSION, & GUIDING PRINCIPLES <br />Vision <br />Att peopte with developmental disabitities wilt have the opportunity to reach their futt potentiat, <br />achieve their dreams, tive futfitted tives, and be contributing members of our community. <br />Mission <br />To foster an inctusive environment that supports citizens with devetopmental disabitities and their <br />families to participate in and contribute to all aspects of the community. <br />Guiding Principles <br />INCLUSION is the abitity to be present and inctuded in our neighborhoods, schools, community <br />groups, religious spaces and recreational activities. lnclusion offers us opportunities to meet <br />others, participate in community [ife, and feet welcome. <br />POWER AND CHOICE mean recognizing what we want and how to achieve it. Power is having the <br />abitity to direct or influence our own tives. Choice is the opportunity to make decisions that are <br />right for us and inctudes the opportunity to succeed or fait. <br />HEALTH AND SAFETY mean the abitity to live and work in a safe ptace, to have access to quality <br />heatth care, and to tearn what we need to do to take care of our health and safety needs. <br />COMPETENCE is learning to do things that make our lives better and being supported to do things <br />for oursetves. lt inctudes communicating effectivety with those who provide us with supports and <br />being abte to direct those supports. <br />CONTRIBUTION is feeling good about ourselves, being vatued and wetl regarded by others, and <br />being recognized for what we contribute to our community. <br />RELATIONSHIPS offer a sense of betonging, continuity, intimacy and give meaning to tife. <br />Connection to others provides support and opens doors to new opportunities and experiences. <br />llil <br />7
