Survey on Short-Term Rentals
addressed. If the property is 1/4 mile away, that's way different than 25 feet! Also, sadly, some
consider these short term rentals as "party houses" and that may cause increased police use
and disturbance.
234 Eliminating or limiting short 2/4/2025 6:28 PM
term rentals won't solve housing availability people with 2nd or 3rd houses will still keep them
just won't be bringing people into the community to bring in venue at restaurants and shopping
235 Kittitas County needs to stay away from this topic. 2/4/2025 6:27 PM
What people do with their property is not a concern to anyone other than the property owner
and the occupant.
236 Let people do what they what with their home 2/4/2025 6:17 PM
237 No 2/4/2025 6:14 PM
238 It seems like the volume of homes available is lacking due to so many 2/4/2025 6:14 PM
being listed as STIR. And most of those owners have a company managing, so they are never
around to even see the state of their property. Most cleaners don't notice trash or dog feces on
adjacent properties since they are simply there to clean, not look after the place. And light
pollution is obnoxious. Lights are left on inside and outside 24 hrs, 365 days. So much for dark
nights and looking at the stars. It sucks.
239 1 have a hard time believing that short term rentals 2/4/2025 6:13 PM
are driving up the price of housing in our area. I believe it has to do with the increasing interest
rates and commuters who buy homes in our county and commute to work in areas with higher
salaries. These people are willing to pay more for housing (because it is less than where they
work) and are driving up the market. If the government is going to regulate anything (which I
don't believe they should be doing) maybe it's time to look at where homeowners are working
who buy houses in our area. It might be time to prioritize full time Kittitas county residents and
employees.
240 Look at Chelan county and what has 2/4/2025 6:11 PM
happened to them by regulating short term rentals. Hasn't been great. Communities and their
HOAs and CC&Rs regulated rentals. If a buyer doesn't want to be in that community because
of STIR then they will pick a different area. Making a cash grab on the homeowners for taxes
and fees on having a STIR isn't the way to help our community deal with the wear and tear on
our county.
241 Don't want our small neighborhood to be full of str 2/4/2025 5:45 PM
242 Similar rules to bed and breakfast. Ideally owner lives onsite if not doable local property 2/4/2025 5:45 PM
manager that is available 24 hrs and within 15 minutes of STIR. If in a HOA the HOA could be
given the ability to be property manager with fees that pay for personal to be available.
243 I believe people should have right to use their property however they want. However, with that 2/4/2025 5:45 PM
said, many neighborhoods in the county did not have provisions in CC&Rs that regulated such
use and with Wa state case law, adoption of such is not an option. Thus, The county needs to
step up and implement some control.
244 A homeowner should be allowed to do as they wish with their home and tell the Gina 2/4/2025 5:44 PM
Peckman's of the world to mind their own damn business
245 It's taxable income, and there's too many people that are using our resources and 2/4/2025 5:32 PM
not paying for them
246 2/4/2025 5:32 PM
Needing to have full time residents needs in the residential zones a top priority . Money
making businesses need to be treated like commercial businesses. Health and safety issues
for residential homes need to come first. A Community needs -many layers of housing for the
workforces that hold the communities woven together. Not profit grapplers. Not LLC that don't
contribute to the community-many owners dont pay the local county sales taxes because they
use the 1031 DST. Basically playing on a real life monopoly board. Taking many residential
homes out of the long term rental market.
247 I believe government needs to stay out of our business. 2/4/2025 5:29 PM
248 A major reason we purchased in Kittatas is because of the present short 2/4/2025 5:28 PM
term rental policies. We would not have purchased in other tightly controlled counties.
78/87
