Survey on Short-Term Rentals
Stop adding more regulations. Most people that would put there place up for short term rental
need the money to make mortgage and expenses. Leave them alone, please.
49 Owners of STR's need to be responsible for the actions of their renters. 2/10/2025 4:48 PM
50 Limit single family homes to a single family. 2/10/2025 4:44 PM
51 Delicate balance, tough bell to unring if we ring it. It is key to our prosperity as a region, but 2/10/2025 3:44 PM
must be managed (and taxed to pay for that regulation).
52 Limit them and enforce the guidelines and rules of the community and fine owners that allow 2/10/2025 2:07 PM
renters to disrespect the community particularly their neighbors.
53 Limiting use of properties in our county will further effect the affordability of owners. Owners 2/10/2025 9:55 AM
need to offset housing costs by being able to rent if needed. Cities can address their own
needs. For example: Upper county is much different than lower county. Ellensburg, Kittitas,
Thorp, do not need to be inhibited with regulations like the upper county.
54 1 was raised in a close-knit town in Eastern Washington with limited opportunities where Gen 2/10/2025 9:53 AM
Xrs left in large numbers after HS graduation. Kititas County offers a different experience
where many multi-generation families still thrive in small towns, largely due to the variety of
jobs and opportunities that exist. STRs create jobs. We need more affordable housing vs
strictly high cost SFRs and STRs which exacerbates the problem of limited affordable housing.
E.g. The pandemic led to an oversupply of STRs but limited if any new affordable housing.
55 We have so many rental properties in the Kittitas county. If we are going to regulate the short 2/10/2025 9:47 AM
term rentals than long term rentals need to be regulated too. In my opinion, long term rentals
are where the issues are.
56 As mentioned earlier, the questions are obviously skewed towards further regulation. We do not 2/10/2025 9:42 AM
need more regulation. If housing stock is a concern, the local governement should incentivize
further development rather than implement taxes and policies on the locals.
57 My biggest concern is lack of help, support from owner of rentals to enforce house or area 2/10/2025 8:02 AM
rules No follow thru so nothing changes
58 1 don't think short term rentals are an issue whatsoever in Ellensburg. I could see how it might 2/10/2025 6:48 AM
impact Upper County more and there may be some needs for intervention. However, please do
not try to regulate STRs like they do in Chelan county -it's out of control up there.
59 Allow homeowners to supply kittitas visitors with a"at home and small town" experience when 2/10/2025 2:27 AM
visiting.
60 Fear that this survey will get more attention from concerned citizens vs. those who are 2/10/2025 2:03 AM
indifferent or support STIR. Thus swaying the data to the negative.
61 No 2/9/2025 9:55 PM
62 1 think reasonable rules such as excessive noise and cars and trash behavior need to be 2/9/2025 7:56 PM
regulated but feel blatant restrictions on rentals are unnecessary. A few bad apples and over
reaction by homeowners
63 We need tourism. Limiting STRs is short-sighted and will hurt our economy. 2/9/2025 4:19 PM
64 I think STIR can be done right, just requires extra work. 2/9/2025 12:55 PM
65 Protect and promote the area's growth in a way that improves it...don't just allow stuff like this 2/9/2025 12:29 PM
to happen to us.
66 Limit rentals before there is so much ownership of them that the city won't be able to reverse 2/9/2025 11:59 AM
the mess this is creating.
67 PLEASE protect the housing values and community spirit and stop us from further being 2/9/2025 11:52 AM
Seattle's weekend dumping ground!
68 Folks coming from other parts of the state to our county need to be educated in the high fire 2/9/2025 10:56 AM
damages in our County during certain months of the year. More enforcement/fines to those
who don't comply or start fires deliberately or by accident.
69 Noise lack of Timely intervention 2/9/2025 10:49 AM
66/87
