Survey on Short-Term Rentals
the property and how the ST renters were. Neighbors have all been great because they know
us, and know that we want to hear any complaints and that we will be responsive.
13 It is the responsibility of the owner to regulate and manage thier tennants. I am very selective 2/7/2025 3:37 PM
in my rental process. I don't think any manner of governing will compensate for poor
management from a property owner/landlord. I do feel there should be guidelines that help the
Proprty owner/ladlord in the event that the need to poice tennants.
14 I'm just trying to pay my bills and it helps. 2/6/2025 10:07 PM
15 Roslyn attracts quality tourists. I believe our town is primarily visited by mature adults and 2/6/2025 5:06 PM
their families.
16 It's exhausting to do all the cleaning and laundry, but i wouldn't be able to afford to live in 2/6/2025 4:10 PM
Kittitas county without it as wages just aren't as competitive as elsewhere
17 Always had good tenants from the Pacific Northwest. The locals who own property have issue 2/6/2025 2:53 PM
with it and don't see loss of STRs will disrupt local business and encourage hotel/motel builds.
18 We only rent our house infrequently. It is insured, guests are responsible due to security 2/6/2025 2:36 PM
deposit and we've never had any complaints from any neighbors.
19 Leave us alone, assholes. 2/6/2025 10:39 AM
20 1 bought my home to live in full time before I met my girlfriend. Because of her commute from 2/6/2025 10:38 AM
the pass, we have to maintain a rental toward Seattle. I rent my house during major holidays
and weekends where I'm going on ski trips to pay the bills. I am not happy with houses in my
neighborhood who bought homes as investments but a general tax on short term rentals would
hurt people that use the platforms the way they were intended-to share their homes in times
where they aren't there and make some money to pay the bills. Between the economy and
massive tax/insurance increases in Kittias county, I'd be against a general tax on strs but for
something that limits the number of days to 60 or makes sure owners are using their house a
certain amount to avoid a tax.
21 Not worth the damage. 2/6/2025 10:26 AM
22 1 vet our guests and limit the number of guests. I am very strict and it works out well, I haven't 2/6/2025 9:58 AM
had a problem. The cities benefit from these guests brought into our community. Especially
with neighboring cities claiming bankruptcy...probably best to not bite off the hand that feeds
you.
23 We rent a studio that is part of our home so not a"full" rental. 2/6/2025 9:48 AM
24 My wife and I love being a host. We live on site in the same building as our short-term rental 2/6/2025 9:18 AM
and welcome the opportunity to invite outsiders to enjoy our community. Without the outside,
we quickly turn into a echo chamber of biased locals who are looked at as gatekeepers to an
incredible community.
25 I've never had an issue with renters, or noise complaints or any other negative effects. 2/6/2025 8:50 AM
26 We did not like having renters share our space and stopped after one year. 2/6/2025 8:37 AM
27 Too much damage by renters. 2/6/2025 7:34 AM
28 We are just entering our fourth year of hosting guests at our short term rental. Overall the 2/5/2025 11:07 AM
experience has been excellent. The vast majority of our guests are polite, respectful, quiet,
and thankful for a nice place to stay while in Ellensburg. We host MANY more guests in the
summer than the winter. Many of our guests are here for weddings, sports tournaments, to see
their CWU student, or to recreate in the area. There are always hiccups with any business, but
ours have all been manageable.
29 Neighbors all know about the rental. They all have our contact info and they know to contact 2/5/2025 10:35 AM
us if there's any problem. Also, Airbnb and VRBO have very strict guidelines for renters. I
have guidelines for the renters to follow. I have never had a complaint from a neighbor or a
renter or Airbnb and VRBO.
30 Short term rentals significantly help the local economy. 2/5/2025 10:30 AM
31 We use our STR to control the neighborhood, not exploit it. I'm a resident, and also a STIR 2/5/2025 9:28 AM
owner. Just based on numbers, their is way less activity with STIR than without. Less water
57 /87
