Bowers Field WildlifeHazard Management Plan <br />3 Authority and responsibilities <br />3.1 Airport Manager <br />The Airport Manager has direct supervision and control over all matters connected with <br />the WHMP. The Airport Manager will serve as the Wildlife Coordinator (WC) and will <br />be responsible for or designate personnel for the following actions: <br />1. Develop an integrated wildlife damage management program and ensure that <br />personnel are properly trained. Such training includes radio communications, <br />driving on the AOA, and safe use of wildlife damage management tools. <br />2. Implement and oversee habitat maintenance/modification and control activities' <br />3. Conduct routine inspections of areas critical to wildlife hazard management and <br />maintain a record of the action. <br />4. Obtain materials and depredation permits necessary to control hazardous wildlife. <br />5. Develop, oversee, and maintain the wildlife observation, control, and strike <br />electronic database. <br />6. Enter known/suspected wildlife strikes into the FAA's National Wildlife Strike <br />Database. <br />7. Issue Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) when hazardous wildlife cannot be removed or <br />otherwise mitigated. <br />8. Develop and enforce a "No Feeding Animals" policy for implementation on the <br />airport. <br />9. Provide public relations support for wildlife control activities as necessary. <br />10. Coordinate and participate in reviewing and updating the WHMP as needed. <br />1 1. Ensure that all ELN personnel, FBO, pilots, and private operators are familiar <br />with the importance of reporting wildlife hazards and strikes and ways to report <br />those events. <br />12. Monitor proposed off-site projects and land use changes and provide technical <br />assistance to address issues and concerns associated with wildlife hazard <br />management. <br />13. Review proposed airport facilities design plans to minimize wildlife attraction. <br />3.2 Airport Maintenance Personnel <br />Airport maintenance personnel will be responsible for the following wildlife hazard <br />management actions: <br />1 . Conduct runway sweeps and physical inspections of areas critical to wildlife <br />hazard management (on days when scheduled staffing are present). <br />2. Perform habitat management, non-lethal and lethal control, fence repair, and other <br />hazardous wildlife management activities as necessary. <br />3-l <br />31 December 2024
