Materials will be translated as
appropriate.
• E-Newsletters: Leveraging existing listservs and the project website for additional interested
persons, E-Newsletters will act a means of correspondence at key points in the project.
• Social media: Collaboration with the County, local jurisdictions, community groups, and more,
social media will be used as a means for disseminating information and events.
• Joint Engagement Partnerships: Work collaboratively with partners to distribute resources,
leverage existing networks and events. This effort specifically targets collaboration with the
school districts.
o Youth/School Age Engagement: County mentioned in the call—some ideas for
consideration:
■ Coloring competition: engages mainly middle school/elementary students—
can have information on planning effort on back and how to engage for parents
■ Photography Contest:This could be focused on more HS age students (or even
photography professionals depending how we frame it). Break down age
brackets and have a contest for local photography showcasing"MyKittitas" (or
however branded), and issue awards, and display somewhere public (County
Building, Courthouse, Library, etc.)
■ Interactive social media campaign:This has been beneficial and fairly low
maintenance for gathering lots of project pictures and input, the catch is we
have to gather these on a hashtag/download/archive. Could be fun for high
school students, the early 20s demographic and even older folks who like social
media challenges! Could have a fun hashtag such as#CraftingKittitasCounty
#MyKittitasFuture (what folks love about the County or what they want to see in
the future)
Kittitas County 2026 Periodic Update—Public Participation Program 5
