<br />2024-10-21 MINUTES 1 <br /> <br />KITTITAS COUNTY <br />BUDGET MEETING MINUTES <br />BOCC AUDITORIUM ROOM, 205 WEST 5TH ROOM 215 - ELLENSBURG <br />Special Meeting <br /> <br />Monday 10:00AM October 21, 2024 <br /> <br />Board members present: Brett Wachsmith, Laura Osiadacz, Cory Wright (Absent) <br />Staff: Brian Carlson, Budget and Finance Director, Bryan Elliott, Auditor, Zack DeHaven, <br />Andrew Yoder, Sue Patterson, Greg Zempel, Prosecuting Attorney, Elishia Harvill, Nick <br />Henderson, Coroner, Cori McKean, Kari Elkins, Katrina Mankus, Karen Bowen, Clerk, Sarah <br />Keith, Pat Gigstead, Emily Brown, Barb Demory, Kara Lesarge, Tasha Potter, Eileen Murphy, <br />Josh Fredrickson. <br />1. Call to order: 10:00am <br /> <br />2. Citizen Comments (1 min. time limit): None <br /> <br />3. 2025 Preliminary Budget Meeting with Criminal Justice Public Safety (CJPS) <br />Mr. Carlson discussed the 2025 Budget. Advising the group of the $10MM problem, with a three <br />year runway. Pending 2025 budget requests include Projects, Capital and Personnel. <br />3/10th Criminal Justice Sales Tax Fund Balance is $5MM. Mr. Carlson discussed the Criminal <br />Justice Public Safety Budget focusing on the breakdown of expenses and revenues. Each of <br />the CJPS departments 2025 budget information was presented and compared back to the group <br />and County as a whole. It was noted that Public Defense department will start recieving income <br />from the City of Ellensburg. The request for new postitions will be determined after the Superior <br />Court of Washington has a final ruling on case loads requirements. <br />Greg Zempel had questions regarding the 3/10th Criminal Justice Sales Tax Fund. Discussion <br />was had about acceptable uses. Greg Zempel requesed to add new personnel changes to their <br />budget. Commissioners agreed to discuss this further at a later budget meeting. <br />Commissioner Osiadacz suggested discussing anything out of line with the Proforma at future <br />meetings. <br /> <br />4.
