Bowers Field Wildlife Hazard Management Plan <br />Blackbirds <br />Blackbirds are common throughout Washington. European starlings were the 6t' most <br />frequently struck species across the United States, 1990 — 2020 (Dolbeer et al. 2021). <br />The most significant blackbird observation was a roost of >20,000 birds at pond V <br />(Figure 1) in the north pasture area in August (Figure 11). Some blackbirds were <br />observed in the cattails along other areas of open water and 3 flocks of 20-200 birds each <br />were documented feeding around the cattle in the west undeveloped pasture area. The <br />fewest observations occurred in the winter, probably because of a lack of food on airfield <br />property. <br />Figure 11.
