11/25/24 MINUTES 1
COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES
KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
BOCC CONF. ROOM
REGULAR MEETING

MONDAY 11:00 A.M. November 25th, 2024

Board members present: Chairman Brett Wachsmith; Vice-Chairman Laura
Osiadacz

Others: Deputy Prosecutor Chris Horner; IT Director Doug Fessler;
Assistant IT Director Zane Kinney; Network/Sys Admin Bill Davis;
Admin Assistant Grant Shimada

REGULAR MEETING IT STUDY SESSION COMMISSIONERS

Commissioner Wachsmith opened the IT Study Session at 11:00 a.m.

CITIZEN COMMENTS

There were no citizen comments.

DISCUSSION InformaCast Update IT

Netsupport Notify is the County’s current emergency notification
system that has historically proven to be unreliable and insufficient.
A recent incident required an emergency notification to be sent out to
all County staff computers but unfortunately was not received by
everyone for unknown reasons. Due to this error, there were complaints
amongst County staff who wanted to replace Netsupport Notify. IT
Director Doug Fessler reiterated the need to replace Netsupport with
a new emergency notification system, InformaCast, who gave an
implementation timeline of 2 – 4 months. There are physical devices
that can connect with InformaCast to help alert the public visiting
any County building. IT is currently looking into this as a future
project. Commissioner Wachsmith and Commissioner Osiadacz are in favor
of InformaCast replacing Netsupport Notify and appreciate Court
spending their AOC Grant to fund the first-year subscription of
InformaCast.

Commissioner Wachsmith was concerned to learn that a single employee
handles sending out the emergency notification via PC and believes the
County needs to have a better administrative emergency protocol set
up. Commissioner Wachsmith also heard about a department undergoing
security training with the Sheriffs and wants to have all County staff
go through this training.
