(2002). This <br />foundational study established floodplain restoration as critical for restoring Yakima Basin salmon stocks. In the Kittitas <br />Reach, the researchers noted strong connectivity between the river and its floodplain aquifer. Recently, Kittitas County <br />has acquired over 500 acres of land in the Lower section of the Kittitas Reach, which complements another 700 acres <br />owned by other public entities. Kittitas County has recently worked with project partners to evaluate restoration <br />altematives and develop conceptual design drawings for designs for a 595-acre floodplain restoration project associated
