managers to ensure appropriate access, management of wildlife and natural resources the <br />County established the Public Lands Advisory Committee (PLAC). Other entities have <br />formed other recreation and land -management associated forums, such as the East - <br />Cascades Recreation Partnership, the Checkerboard Partnership, the Mountain to Sounds <br />Greenway, the Teanaway Community Forest Advisory Group, and the Yakima Basin <br />Integrated Plan Lands Sub -Committee. County representation and participation across <br />these forums is spread across various County Commissioners and staff members. <br />Public Works manages the three identified parks, and the Flood Control Zone District <br />(FCZD) acquired properties. Recreation compatible with floodplain management and <br />habitat restoration goals can be supported in the FCZD properties. Given the increase in <br />County land holdings, there is need to further develop policy and provide resources <br />around use of County owned properties. This resource could be additional staff positions <br />to coordinate policy and use of both Kittitas County and other recreation and resource <br />lands with the variety of stakeholders in the County. Consultant services may also be <br />considered to provide the desired outcomes. Public Works desires to assist in the <br />development strategies to provide support of public lands in the County. <br />FISCAL IMPACTS: <br />Additional staff position would increase expenditures by approximately $150,000. <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />None. <br />Page 2 of 2 <br />Public Works "Work Session Staff Report", 2024 <br />
