Page 1 of 2 <br />Information Technology “Study Session Staff Report”, 8/26/24 <br />KITTITAS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />STAFF REPORT FOR <br />STUDY SESSION <br /> <br />Information Technology <br /> <br />STUDY SESSION DATE: 8/26/24 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Discussion of the Intranet Modernization Initiative <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: No Action - Information Only <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Zane Kinney <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />IT is asking the Board to approve a resolution to acknowledge the formation of the <br />Intranet Advisory Committee <br /> <br />This agenda item also introduces the draft of a plan for the redevelopment of the <br />County’s intranet site. <br />BRIEFING SUMMARY: <br />The process of removing functionality from CAMAS has already begun. <br />• Business decisions or security and performance of the current feature is <br />compromised to the point that immediate replacement is required. <br />• Reshaping our intranet without a plan risks replacing CAMAS with something <br />we don't want or need. <br />• IT strongly believes that involvement by a representative group of <br />stakeholders, who will advise us in developing a new intranet site, is vitally <br />important. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />In 2023 the Board directed IT to work on modernizing CAMAS. Since then, Assistant <br />Director Zane Kinney, has been assessing the current state of the application, taking an <br />inventory of the tools present, and developing a plan for migrating to a new intranet <br />solution. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />The Intranet Advisory Committee would provide the IT department with invaluable <br />insight to stakeholder requirements. A small, but diverse and engaged group could <br />provide: <br />• Needs Assessment <br />• Design and User Experience Input
