Page 1 of 2 <br />Information Technology “Study Session Staff Report”, 5/29/24 <br />KITTITAS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />STAFF REPORT FOR <br />STUDY SESSION <br /> <br />Information Technology <br /> <br />STUDY SESSION DATE: 5/31/2024 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Request Board Direction on General Code and Asset Panda Acquisition <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: No Action - Information Only <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: IT Director Doug Fessler <br />Assistant IT Director Zane Kinney <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Acquire General Code and Asset Panda. <br /> <br />BRIEFING SUMMARY: Requesting direction from the County Commissioners on <br />acquiring General Code’s services and Asset Panda’s software. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: The IT department is responsible for converting the written format of <br />past and newly enacted laws and ordinances into code and uploading them onto the <br />County’s public website. This responsibility has historically proven challenging and time <br />consuming for a small department. <br /> <br />F.A.T.S. is the name of the asset management system that was custom built years ago <br />with outdated features that has been known to be problematic. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION: Zane and other interested party members have researched a 3rd party <br />vendor, General Code, who will handle the coding process, upload the code onto their <br />platform for public access, handle any editing needs, and maintain the platform. Zane is <br />requesting Board direction on the acquisition of General Code’s services. <br /> <br />Zane and a small team of experts have researched and demoed a 3rd party software, Asset <br />Panda, and determined that this software offers necessary modern features and amenities <br />that will simplify the inventorying process. Zane is requesting Board direction on the <br />acquisition of Asset Panda’s software. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACTS: <br />General Code <br />Conversion Project Price: $2,990 <br />Annual Maintenance Fee: $1,195 <br />Ordinance TrackBack Online Enhancement: $600 <br /> <br /> <br />
