Community Events
Attend 2-3 community events at various points in the project to engage with community members
and gather information. This could be paired with Climate Element events and we could look for
times to combine efforts with other engagement to stretch project budget.
Easton Sub-area
Attendance at up to three community meetings focused on development of sub-area plan policies
to be included within the comprehensive plan.Additional engagement may be gained by having a
community event or open house in Easton.
Public Open Houses
The consultant team recommends allowing for three open house-type public meetings at the
project midpoint to share and discuss Comprehensive Plan concepts and draft elements. The open
houses could be organized in one of two ways:
• Same content repeated at open houses held in geographically distinct areas of the County
to improve accessibility to the planning process.
• Open houses with different topics held and held in a relatively central location.
• Open Houses maybe coordinated with open houses anticipated for Climate Element.
Project team will lead the scheduling, agenda, and content development of each open house
meeting.County will assist with booking facilities.
Task 4: Best Available Science (BAS) review and gap analysis
Given the Kittitas County Critical Area Ordinance(CAO)has recently been updated, task will
include analysis of existing Critical Areas Code to review Best Available Science and identify any
additional CAO updates which may be required.
Deliverables:
• Short memo outlining any CAO updates which may need to be included as part of the
Periodic Update. If no updates are required, memo will be included as part of the record.
Assumptions:
• Code changes identified will be addressed as part of Task 15.
Task 5: Plan audit and Commerce checklist
Task will include completing the Periodic Update Checklist for Fully-Planning Counties. This will be
the basis for understanding policy and code changes that will need to be addressed as part of the
update process.
3
