We provide a wide variety of services, resources, and programs. We seek to make our offerings even more deeply integrated with the needs of our students and the greater CWU community. Our guiding directions are to be a partner in transformative teaching, learning, and research; to welcome the university community with excellent service and resources, seamless access to those resources and services, and inclusive spaces and programs accessible and approachable to all; to add to the quality of life of the CWU community; and to create and extend an atmosphere of inclusiveness and diversity. The James E. Brooks Library is a well-loved center of activity on campus, providing physical and electronic resources and diverse study spaces. Brooks Library welcomes members of the public. On a weekly basis the building is open 96.5 hours during fall, winter, and spring academic sessions, 81.5 hours during summer academic session, and 40 hours during academic intersessions. We are committed to providing programming to bring members of the wider Kittitas County community to the library and to bringing library resources to the community. Over the past year, CWU Libraries organized a variety of programming which was free of charge, open to all, and designed to foster community engagement. Here are some highlights from the 2023-2024 reporting period: • Constitution Day with free pocket-sized U.S. Constitutions • National Voter Registration Day with the League of Women Voters of Kittitas County • Banned Books information table at the Ellensburg Farmers Market • 9th Annual Archives and Museums Crawl in partnership with the CWU Archives and Special Collections, the CWU Museum of Culture and Environment,the Ellensburg Public Library and Archives,the Kittitas County Historical Museum, and the Washington State Archives Central Branch. • Cultural Conversations, a quarterly hybrid event in partnership with the CWU Office for International Studies and Programs and the Ellensburg Public Library which brings storytellers and attendees together to discuss global cultures and traditions. • Provost Lecture Series, a quarterly hybrid event in partnership with the CWU Office of the Provost and the CWU School of Graduate Studies and Research.The Provost Lecture series spotlights current faculty research from across CWU, allowing the community an opportunity to learn about the innovative research and inspiring creative work of CWU faculty.
