From: Brad Kahn
To: lamev &1=
Subject: Ranch on Swauk Creek
Date: Friday, July 26, 2024 8:06:38 AM
CAUTION: This email originated from outside the Kittitas County network. Do not click
links, open attachments, fulfill requests, or follow guidance unless you recognize the sender
and have verified the content is safe.
July 26, 2024
Jamey Ayling
Kittitas County Permit Coordinator
by email: i_amev avlingncQ dUitas w3.US
Dear Mr. Ayling:
I write as a resident of the Swauk Pines community, which lies just to the south of the
proposed Ranch on Swauk Creek (ROSC) development (DV-24-00001).
As future neighbors to the ROSC community, we respect their rights to develop homes in the
area. However, before any negative impacts occur, we would like to elevate a few issues for
consideration during the permitting process:
Water quality in Swauk Creek. Currently the creek is healthy, with low levels of
algae, cool temperatures, clear water, and healthy populations of aquatic invertebrates
and resident rainbow trout. As the ROSC develops, we want to ensure the quality,
quantity and temperature of the waters in Swauk Creek are not adversely impacted.
• D,-UkAdQS. We love the rural feel of this region, including the pitch dark night skies
and amazing array of stars we are able to see clearly. We use "dark sky" friendly
outdoor lighting in our development and hope the same will be true for ROSC to
avoid contributing light pollution to the area.
. Noise o I ion. Noise carries in the valley. We trust construction periods will be
limited to regular business hours to minimize noise impacts.
. Wildfire: Wildfire risks are our reality now and into the future. We work during the
development process and throughout the year to exceed Kittitas County`s building
code requirements and to meet the FireWise standard for risk mitigation. We
encourage the ROSC to embrace FireWise as a model to reduce our collective risk.
The pure, still beauty and peaceful nature of Hidden Valley has drawn people here for many
years. At Swauk Pines, we work to preserve to the extent possible the sense of peace for those
who live here and visit. We appreciate your consideration and this opportunity to submit our
input.
Sincerely,
Brad Kahn
280 Swauk Pines Road
