Amendment No. 1 to Animal Shelter Operations Agreement between <br />Kittitas County and the Yakima Humane Society <br />This Amendment No. 1, made and entered into this /4t" day of June, 2024, by and <br />between Kittitas County ("the County"), a Washington municipal corporation, and the Yakima <br />Humane Society ("Humane Society"), a Washington non-profit corporation, for the purpose of <br />revising the terms for compensation of services paid by the County to the Humane Society. <br />WHEREAS, the City owns and maintains an Animal Shelter facility ("City Shelter") at <br />1007 S. Industrial Way, Ellensburg, WA 98926; and <br />WHEREAS, the Ellensburg City Code provides for dog and cat licensing and animal <br />shelter services in Ellensburg; and <br />WHEREAS, the County and Humane Society entered into the "Animal Shelter Operations <br />Agreement" with an effective term of August 1, 2022 through December 31, 2025, ("Agreement") <br />providing for the Humane Society to operate the City's animal shelter under the terms and <br />conditions as set forth in the Agreement; and <br />WHEREAS, providing for continued Humane Society operations in the existing Animal <br />Shelter facility and animal licensing ensures uninterrupted shelter operations, and promotes the <br />efficiency of these important services to the public and to the County; and <br />WHEREAS, funding for the Humane Society operations of the City's animal shelter is <br />included in Kittitas County's general fund budget for 2024; and <br />WHEREAS, Section 12 of the Agreement provides that any modification must be approved <br />by the parties in writing; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the parties agree as follows: <br />Exhibit B, "Compensation," is amended as follows: <br />Effective July 1, 2024, the County agrees to compensate the Humane Society a total of <br />Twelve Thousand Dollars ($12,000.00) monthly through December 31, 2024, for a total of <br />Seventy -Two Thousand Dollars ($72,000.00), for providing the Shelter Facility services <br />described herein. <br />Effective January 1, 2025 through the remainder of the Agreement which terminates <br />December 31, 2025, the County agrees to compensate the Humane Society a total of Eight <br />Thousand Dollars ($8000.00) monthly for a total of ($96,000.00), for providing the Shelter <br />Facility services described herein. <br />Amendment No. 1 to Animal Shelter Operations Agreement — Page 1 <br />
