June 13, 2023 HWA Project No. 2022-188-21 • Material used as structural fill should consist of clean granular soil, of which not more than 5% by dry weight passes the U.S. Standard No. 200 sieve, based on wet sieving the fraction passing the 3/4-inch sieve. The fine-grained portion of the structural fill soils should be non -plastic. • The ground surface within the construction area should be sloped and sealed with a smooth -drum vibratory roller, to promote rapid runoff of precipitation and to prevent ponding of water. • No soil should be left uncompacted so it can absorb water. Soils that become too wet for compaction should be removed and replaced with clean granular materials. 5.0 CONDITIONS AND LIMITATIONS We have prepared this report for use by SCS, Inc., and Kittitas County Solid Waste and other members of the project design team during the design and construction of the geotechnical aspects of this project. However, the conclusions and interpretations presented should not be construed as a warranty of the subsurface conditions. Experience has shown that subsurface soil and ground water conditions can vary significantly over small distances. Inconsistent conditions can occur between explorations and may not be detected by a geotechnical study. If, during future site operations, subsurface conditions are encountered which vary appreciably from those described herein, HWA should be notified for review of the recommendations of this report, and revision of such, if necessary. We recommend that a knowledgeable and experienced geotechnical engineer or inspector should inspect footing excavations, pavement subgrade preparation, subsurface drainage, and review potential fill and bedding materials for suitability. Within the limitations of approved scope, schedule and budget, HWA attempted to execute these services in accordance with generally accepted professional principles and practices in the fields of geotechnical engineering and engineering geology at the time the report was prepared. No warranty, express or implied, is made. The scope of our work did not include environmental assessments or evaluations regarding the presence or absence of wetlands or hazardous substances in the soil, surface water, or ground water at this site. HWA does not practice or consult in the field of safety engineering. We do not direct the contractor's operations and cannot be responsible for the safety of personnel other than our own on the site. As such, the safety of others is the responsibility of the contractor. However, the contractor should notify the owner if any of the recommended actions presented herein are considered unsafe.
