HUD's Rent Reasonableness <br />Form or comparable form must be used, see HUD's worksheet on rent reasonableness at <br />httos://www.h udexcha nse. info/resou r ce/2098 /hom e-rent-reason a b Ien ess -checklist-a n d- <br />certi f ication/ <br />8.4.2 Rent Limit ExcePtions <br />The FMR rent limit policy or rent reasonableness policies and procedures may also include a <br />description of how exceptions are made when circumstances require a rent amount that exceeds the <br />limit. <br />8.5 Determining Rent SubsidY <br />Lead/subgrantees must have a standardized procedure for determining t he amount of rent subsidY for <br />each household. The procedure should include a consideration of the household's resources and <br />expenses. Although each household may receive a different amount of rent subsidy, the procedure for <br />determining the subsidy must be standardized. <br />Client files must include documentation of the subsidy amount and the determination process. Rent <br />subsidyshould be adjusted when there is a change in household circumstance, income, or need. <br />HEN households cannot be required to pay any of their ABD cash benefit or other earned income <br />reported to DSHS towards their rent. <br />Households receving TANF cannot be required to pay any of their TANF benefit towards their rent. <br />Page | 43
