<br />2024-07-18 MINUTES 1 <br /> <br />KITTITAS COUNTY <br />FINANCE STUDY SESSION MINUTES <br />BOCC CONFERENCE ROOM, 205 WEST 5TH ROOM 108 - ELLENSBURG <br /> <br />Thursday 1:30PM July 18, 2024 <br /> <br />Board members present: Chairman Brett Wachsmith, Commissioner Cory Wright <br />Staff Present: Brian Carlson, Finance Director, Zack DeHaven, Sue Patterson, Andrew <br />Yoder, Kylee Wuesthoff <br />Others: Anne Leichleiter, Boys and Girls Club <br />Heidi Behrends Cerniwey, Ellensburg City Manager <br /> <br />1. Call to Order: 1:30PM <br />2. Citizen Comments - none <br />3. Consideration of Additional Funding, Boys & Girls Club of Columbia Basin <br />Ann Leichleiter of the Boys & Girls Club discusses the need for $300K to continue the program <br />and to expand the program to include Ellensburg and Thorp. Other funding options have been <br />obtained and they are seeking other sources for funding. <br />Commissioner Cory Wright makes a motion to fund $200K to the Boys and Girls Club. <br />Chairman Brett Wachsmith seconded the motion and the motion passes. <br />4. Consideration of ARPA Grant Award to Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce for <br />“Kittitas County Strong” Small Business Grant Program <br />Amy McGuffin from the Chamber of Commerce is seeking ARPA grant funding for small <br />businesses. The proposal is for $200K, awarded in $5K increments. The Commissioners request <br />for more data and research. More discussion in September to follow. <br /> <br />5. 2025 Budget – Analysis and General Discussion <br />Mr. Carlson discusses the General fund and countywide deficit. Highlighted was that the coming <br />budgeted deficit will almost certainly be realized as methodology for budget construction <br />continues to improve. There are many topics still to be finalized that will have a significant <br />impact on the overall budget, including union negotiations and several large-scale projects. Mr. <br />Carlson stressed the importance of long-term planning and the alignment of organizational <br />objectives as a means of combating the increasing financial pressures. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
