BRIEFING SUMMARY: • A resident on Charlton Road requested a speed reduction on Charlton Road from Wilson Creek Road to Naneum Road (MP 0.00 to MP 1.10). • The speed study was conducted from June 20, 2024 to June 28, 2024. • Speed study data collected at MP 0.65. • Average daily traffic (ADT) of 105 vehicles, with a 37%truck traffic percentage. • ADT distribution is 48% eastbound and 52%westbound at MP 0.65 • 85% speed is 48 Miles Per Hour(MPH) at MP 0.65. • [0] accidents in the past five years within the project study location. BACKGROUND: Responding to a request received on April 15, 2024,to reduce the posted speed on Charlton Road from 50 MPH to 35 MPH, Public Works deployed traffic data collectors June 20, 2024, and collected through June 28, 2024. The request indicated safety was the main concern, noting traffic from the Event Venue as particularly problematic. As event venue traffic was the main concern,traffic counting was delayed from the initial request in order to collect traffic which may be reflective of events. Additionally,the request notes six other residents in agreement with the reduction request. Data collected at mile post 0.65 has and ADT of 105 vehicles, and 37 percent truck traffic within the average daily traffic distribution of vehicle size.
