07/08/2024 MINUTES 2 <br />Chairman Wachsmith moved to approve and ratify Vice-Chair signature <br />on a letter for the State Auditor Engagement Letter to begin the <br />Annual County Audit. Commissioner Wright seconded. Motion carried 3- <br />0. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION DAILY RECORD REQUEST - COLUMN COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />Donna Etchey, Daily Record GM asked the Board if they would have any <br />interest in a monthly column (“Commissioners Corner”) where they <br />could share with the readers hot topics and top priorities the Board <br />has. She stated it could be the first Thursday of every month <br />meaning they would need it the week before and approximately 400-500 <br />words. The Board indicated they would like to give it a try and see <br />how it goes, noting it would begin in August. <br /> <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />At 9:05 a.m. Chairman Wachsmith announced the Board would recess <br />into an Executive Session under RCW 42.30.110 (i) To discuss with <br />legal counsel representing the agency matters relating to agency <br />enforcement actions, or to discuss with legal counsel representing <br />the agency litigation or potential litigation to which the agency, <br />the governing body, or a member acting in an official capacity is, <br />or is likely to become, a party, when public knowledge regarding the <br />discussion is likely to result in an adverse legal or financial <br />consequence to the agency for five minutes with the Board and Mr. <br />Mitchell. Action was anticipated. <br /> <br />At 9:10 a.m. the Board reconvened out of Executive Session. <br />Direction to Staff to proceed with litigation. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION COUNTY FACEBOOK COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />The Board determined that for the week of July 8, 2024, they would <br />post the following on their Facebook page: share the Temporary Cold <br />Weather Shelter Press Release from the City of Ellensburg; share the <br />KRD Canal Safety Press Release; and County Burn Ban (when it goes <br />into effect). <br /> <br />UPDATE BOCC/ DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />Each Commissioner was assigned three different Department Heads to <br />meet with on a weekly basis for the year. The assignments for 2024 <br />were determined at the Board of County Commissioners Office Admin <br />meeting earlier on and they will continue to provide updates at <br />future meetings. <br /> <br />Each Commissioner reviewed discussions held with their respective <br />departments and exchanged details of those meetings. <br />
