KITTITAS COUNTY <br />PUBLIC WORKS STUDY SESSION MINUTES <br />COMMISSIONERS' AUDITORIUM, 205 WEST 5TH ROOM 109 <br />Regular Meeting <br />MONDAY 1:30 PM June 10, 2024 • <br />Board members present: Chairman Brett Wachsmith, Vice Chairman Laura <br />Osiadacz, and Commissioner Cory Wright. <br />Others: Josh Fredrickson, -Cameron Curtis, Rebecca Cruse, Public <br />Works; Jessica Miller, Chad Bala, Jamey Ayling, Community Development <br />Services; Stephanie Hartung, Prosecuting Attorney's Office; 3 members <br />of the public. <br />At 1:30 PM Chairman Brett Wachsmith opened the Public Works Study <br />Session. <br />No Citizen Comments. <br />OTHER BUSINESS -CASCADE IRRIGATION DISTRICT UPDATE <br />Josh Fredrickson introduced Richard Hink, representing Cascade <br />Irrigation District. Richard Hink stated that many irrigation users <br />will be affected because the pump station at Mcmanamy Road for the <br />irrigation district experienced catastrophic failure. Cascade <br />Irrigation District is working on replacement, estimating the cost to <br />be $250,000-$300,000, and is looking into funding options to assist <br />with the unexpected cost and continue operations for the season. <br />EAST SPARKS ROAD SPEED STUDY RESULTS <br />Cameron Curtis briefed the Board of County Commissioners on a request <br />to reduce speed on a section of East Sparks Road currently posted at <br />35 mph. Cameron Curtis presented the findings of the most current <br />Traffic Study conducted for 1-week in May of 2024. Based on the <br />findings the Board of County Commissioners denied the request to hold <br />a public hearing and directed staff for the development of criteria <br />for response to these requests. Josh Fredrickson briefed the Board on <br />efforts Public Works Staff are taking to bring forward a policy for <br />consideration to process citizen requests for speed changes. <br />Meeting concluded at 1:41 PM <br />2024-6-10 MINUTES <br />
